Thoughts on Fall- Scarlet Matteson
Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Fall, in my opinion, is the best season of the year. It is fulfilled with crisp scents, crunchy leaves, and pumpkin everything. It deeply saddens me that it is the end of September and it is not the perfect temperature of 50-60 degrees. Hopefully, in the next week, we are able to whip out the comfy sweaters and the fall vibes.
This year I am realizing how much I took Fall for granted in previous years. This Fall season I have some of the things listed I am doing to fulfill my fall bucket list...
-Pumpkin Picking
-LOTS of pumpkin-flavored drinks
-Wearing flannels 24/7
Don't even get me started on pumpkin-scented candles. I will go on levels way too far to get a good fall-scented candle. I feel like in another universe I am a 40-year-old mom because of what I am about to say but, Homegoods and Bath and Bodyworks are my happy place. I could spend hours upon hours just smelling candles in these stores.
The most important part of achieving maximum Fall vibes is to watch Gilmore Girls. The main characters, Rory and Lorelai Gilmore go through all four seasons in the 7 season show but the Fall episodes hit different! The food they eat, the coffee they drink, and the clothes they wear honestly make me hyperventilate with happiness. Rory also goes to a very aesthetic school where I can feel the fall weather through the screen and when in comparison to Sparta High School it makes me frustrated that no one ever has as much fall cheer.
Now, you may have asked yourself "How did these fall fantasies come to life?" Well, in a dream. They came to me in a dream. It began with my two friends and me (accompanied by pumpkin spice coffees and the iconic flannel/jean combo). We were walking on a street as townspeople were putting up fall decorations on the lamposts. The laughter and conversation we had awoken me in complete euphoria. I have already notified my friends that I have preplanned the haunted hayrides and pumpkin picking dates (they are not as excited as me).
I am begging you all to try some pumpkin-flavored things and romanticize the Fall season, trust me, you won't regret it!

From one 40 years old Mom to another - I feel you! Love your voice in this and if you find any good hayrides around, let me know!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you that autumn is the best season. I also definitely pick up on how our school lacks in "fall cheer" and that is very upsetting. I like how you chose to write this!
ReplyDeleteI am honestly so sick of the weather, can't wait for the fall weather! Good job perfectly describing the fall season!
