My thoughts entering a new year as a new person.

Like Sasha Nelson mentioned, if I don't do this now I might very well forget about it, or my ideas won't be as fresh as they are right now on day four of school! It's extremely odd that I just started my sophomore year of high school. I feel like I didn't even complete middle school, which realistically, I didn't. But you know what, this year I'm choosing to put all of the negativity behind me because I know brighter things are coming for not only just me but for all of us. I often talk about how this pandemic was a blessing in disguise. The "end of the world" gave me so much time to reflect on myself as a person, and I can now confidently say I am not the person anyone remembers from middle school. I'm brighter, stronger, maturer, smarter, kinder and I couldn't be more proud of myself. I go into this year knowing I can take the characteristics and make this year what I want it to be. Life is about how you look at it, and this year I'm choosing to commit myself to a brighter future. I'm choosing to have an open mind. I'm choosing to have an open heart. And most academically important, I'm choosing to take all measures in being the best student I can possibly be for myself.  Even saying that makes me feel confident in how much I have grown. I used to do school, and do well, with the mindset of pleasing my teachers, and classmates, and parents, now I only ever care about pleasing myself and challenging myself. I think that if anyone were to ever read this now or in a couple of years I would want them to know that the negative things in your past can easily change with a healthier brain, and a kinder heart, we just have to realize that everything happens for a reason, and sometimes it is to help us grow. I know and I hope that I have a lot more growing to do but this year I feel like my best self and I know that I'm absolutely going to crush it, for me.

  1. I think that it is so awesome how you are taking this year to really focus on yourself and what you need. As much as I hated being in full lock down and as terrible as this whole pandemic is, I too feel that it has given me time to improve from toxic middle school me, you worded it so well!
