My Summer Events once COVID restrictions lifted (SEPTEMBER) by Molly McQueeney
Summer 2021
This summer was a little bit more uneventful then I thought it would be. Coming out of a COVID filled year and with restrictions coming up that I would be able to do more. In the beginning of the summer my mom had to get a toe surgery and had to be in a boot for a while. All the beach trips, parties, and long days of walking had to be put on pause. Most of my summer was spent sitting in my room, going in the backyard or walking around my streets. On some weekends me and my close family friends would get together and hang at one of our houses. We would play pool, eat pizza, watch movies and sing (all theater and band kids). These "parties" would last till 1 am almost every time we hung out. We never got tired of talking and listen to each other. One night me and my friend Emma Mac jumped into Suvanni's pool in our clothes at 12 am. These "parties" and fun events lasted through July.
The last week of July me, my family, and my friends from my old town went to the Poconos. In Poconos, PA we always go to the resort named Split Rock. We have been going together for the past 10 years. We normally stay for about a week. In this resort there is karaoke night, archery, mini golf, a lake, a water park and an indoor and outdoor pool. The next week after that my family and I all went to Point Pleasant beach for the first time. It was so much fun. We went for a Thursday through Sunday trip. We went to the boardwalk 2-4 of the nights. On the boardwalk we played games, went on a whole bunch of rides, went to the beach and took a bunch of pictures. My older brother Declan won an avocado stuff animal and we named it Roger. This place is definitely a place i would wanna come back to next Summer
I do the High school marching band and each year there is 2 weeks of August where we have band camp. Band camp is 2 weeks one at the high school and one in Warwick PA. The first week we call mini camp. This is a shorter amount of time at the high school verse how long we pracitice at the sleep away camp. At the high school. That first week is 10-4. The second week is from 6 am - 9pm Monday through Friday. At this camp we learn the work, drill, and become closer friends with all the people in the band. By the end of the week most the show is complete and we preform it for the parents back at the high school. By the time this camp is over the first day of school has sunk up on me.
