Changes Around Me and How I Feel About Them- Gabe Jarvis

These past few months have had a lot of change in them. From going back to school, the summer fading away and much more. (Keep in mind that I wrote this a week ago, so some of the things I talk about in present tense are in the past.)

1.) The first thing which I currently feel has made the most important changes in my life is going back to school, full time. To be honest, coming back the first week wasn't as bad as I made it out to be to my mom. It was nice to be in an environment that I hadn't taken part in in a while. However, as we near a month of being in school, I don't think I can say the same anymore. The work is starting to flow in and this can be a little hard, but I think I just have to get used to it again. This is definitely going to be hard considering we haven't even had a real week of school yet. Of course everyone loves less school time, myself included, but I know that this is only going to hurt the students. For example, today we have a delayed opening scheduled day. Looking at the schedule I pasted below, all I can wonder is why in the first three weeks of school? It is seriously exhausting to have your schedule/weekly plans changing every other week. I know everything is going to work out, but this sloppy transition is not providing that opportunity just yet.

2.) Another pretty major change from these past few months was my brother going to college. He went off to school on August 31st, so the day before my first day of school. He goes to Salve Regina in Rhode Island and the campus is beautiful, even though I didn't have the privilege to see it in person. This meaning I also unfortunately couldn't go with my parents to move him in. They only allow two people per family in the dorms and my mom and dad were those two people. It's a little upsetting that I didn't get to experience something that is typically a family's favorite college experience, but I still have the next few years ahead. While thinking about the next few years, it makes me realize how soon I'll be in a similar position. I prefer to not think about this, so I'm going to move on to something else... In terms of the campus, my mom said that it was less than half of a mile away from the beach. What a perfect place for college! Anyways, I hope that I will soon have the chance to visit him in person and until then, I wish him the best of luck! Here's a picture of the view from one of the parking lots on campus!:

3.) A final change, which happened yesterday actually, is the fall season being here! Fall is my favorite time of year. The summer heat disappears and there is always some type of clarity in the fall air. The leaves reveal their true colors, they no longer have to hide behind their boring green coats. Being outside for hours at a time is genuinely refreshing during fall. When I was younger, I would walk to the bus stop during fall and find myself in awe. It was so easy to appreciate the present which had all of this foliage and wish time stopped. I loved and love the way that I could see the more drastic changes within nature, I assume others feel the same. Plus, the fall holidays are the best. They keep you enjoying the fall while also anticipating for the occurrences of some of the best holidays year round. There's Halloween, Thanksgiving and then to top it all of, Christmas (not really a fall holiday). I like to think that fall happens when it does for a reason. It provides relief from the hot summer and prepares for a winter indoors. It's one last shot at being able to enjoy the outdoors when it's the most tolerable. I cannot wait for fall to uncoil in to its most true self, and I hope that as it does this, your (the reader's) life uncoils in a perfect series of events. Happy fall! Here's a photo I took around this time last year!:
